I Miss My Dad

Daddy, today you passed away after an agonizing battle with cancer. You were quite a trooper though, always joking just so you could watch us laugh. Oh Daddy, you will be missed. I called you on Christmas to say hello but you could hardly speak. Karen held the phone to your ear and you said, "I love you honey, Merry Christmas". That was the last time I heard your voice -what beautiful words. Shortly after then you were in the hospital and you could no longer speak. I knew the end was near. Last night I stayed awake waiting for you to visit me, to say goodbye. The phone rang in the middle of the night and it was mommy telling me the sad news. I never did see you last night. But today I realized that you can never really leave me. You're apart of me. You're in my heart forever. Now you're in Paradise and I know it's for the best. I love you Daddy.
