I Miss My Dad
I am an only child and my father died of a heart attack in 1995...my mother of cancer in 1989..I am 40 and I sometimes feel so isolated and alone; if it weren't for a loving husband (although he's still struggling to provide financial security after 15 years of marriage) and our only son..if it weren't for the birth of our son in 1997, I think the grief would've killed me! So many times, I tell my son, "Your grandfather would have been so proud of you for doing...." Your grandfather would've took you for root beer floats and milkshakes..your grandmother would've bought you clothes and showed you how to plant flowers..." The loss of a parent will be with you forever, however, the pain is eased by the years...it seems to take longer for an only child. In my opinion. My son is an only child and I hope I can teach him to be strong and independant so he won't feel as alone in the world as I do. Sincerely, M. Ruggio
