I Miss My Dad
dear Dad,
Thank you do much for the life that you gave me. Words can never express the depths of my emptiness without you. Mom misses you very much. Carrie Anne, Julie and John do too. Did you see us on the morning that you left? We all took the balloons from the hospital and sent them into the sky. Mom went out first and sent the heart one. We counted to 3 and then let them go. Some of us went outside without our shoes on, ( yes, one of them was me.). Cassidy had a tear fall down her cheek, declaring that "pop pop is an angel now". Joshua wanted to stay outside until the last balloon was no longer able to be seen. I was so upset for awhile, because my birthday was 11 days after you left. Thanksgiving was hard. Christmas is also strange. This is the first year that I have found all sorts of things that you would have liked. I have an ornament on our tree that was yours. Mom gave it to me. It is Santa riding a Harley. Your presence is in the house. Cassidy and Joshua have a picture of you in their rooms. It is one from when you and Mom went to Ellen and George's the last time. Do you realize that at the end, I was there? You wouldn't believe Charlie, Dad. He did not want to leave you. Even after you left. When Mr. Naugle came, and you went with him, Charlie went crazy looking for you. Stroker even tried to look for you. He had escaped from his pen. Finally between Mom and John, a way was figured out, and he didn't get out any more. Chuck and Elise bought the pellets for Mom for the winter. Julie and the kids are home now. You don't have to worry. Could you please go and let Mom know that you are around? She needs the strength. Grammy and Teta are driving her nuts. Their health is also declining. Please have Uncle OC, and Grandpop Hank waiting for them. This flu has really gotten them. With their ages being what they are, the flu isn't a good thing. Dad, it's 4 days until Christmas. I miss you very much. I know that you are with God, and one day, we will all be together again. Merry Christmas! Love, your oldest daughter, Kathy
Your one and only little girl
